But App store figured I might like Duet Display, and I thought that looked grand until I saw the yearly repeating expense - so that started me on a hunt, and I ended up here. And just to be clear, I’ve got no affiliation with Airserver - up til yesterday I didn’t even think about this functionality. It also turns your computer and other monitor into a server that can stream mobile devices. I guess they are REALLY keen for you to buy an Apple TV. AirServer is another similar app to Reflector 3. I double checked whether some streaming services (NFlix, HBO, Amazon) would stream video better than the Airserver, but its the same issue.
AIRSERVER VS REFLECTOR CODE
So having to punch in a code and jump through a couple of screens seems a bit superfluous, and is another thing to do - rather than it just working. Which is fine.Įxcept I’m screen sharing and not, up and down, all day long.

So then you have to click on the PC to generate another onscreen code. And annoyingly it shows you a code on the initial screen, but that is not the right code. The bad news is that every time you link up it asks for a code. Hey, had a quick look at Reflektor 3, thanks for the tip! So the good news is its a bit cheaper - $15.

AIRSERVER VS REFLECTOR FULL
I saw all the Airserver posts seemed quite old etc, so I just figured someone else might be in the same position, and wanted to let folks know what was possible and relatively easy (Airserver is $20 and a one off payment - still on the trial period so haven’t gone through the full paying up experience, but it seems legit). Its going to change how we communicate so much for the better. We’ve messed around with Wacom tablets and Powerpoint and its just been terrible - this is seamless, fast, easy, dynamic - I’m kind of in a swoon. We wanted to do something better - so started looking at ways to share our iPad screen onto a PC. We’ve typically had whiteboards in our home offices and point a webcam at it while videoconferencing. I’ve got a distributed team - so gathering around a whiteboard is hard. Now I can start either a Zoom meeting or a Skype call and “share screen” and boom, suddenly everyone can see exactly what the concept is or how we should chart. Airserver and iPad is rocking my world for easy, cheap team whiteboarding.
AIRSERVER VS REFLECTOR FREE
I got a simple free whiteboard app (called Whiteboard) - although there is the option to use some more sophisticated apps if wanted. I can now just screen mirror from my iPad to my PC completely wirelessly (through the wifi network), its full screen and amazing. I read all these scare stories around Airserver (terrible reviews on the MS Windows app store) but I figured for a 14 day free trial, why not. So after looking at a bunch of expensive complicated solutions I saw Airserver come up in these forums. We didn’t want to control Illustrator running on a desktop, we just wanted to show concepts and ideas and charts and that kind of thing. There were LOTS of quite expensive and yearly subscription models, and it all seemed a bit much for what we wanted.
